VERONICA MONROE

STRENGTH TRAINING

Veronica was born in New York, NY and moved to Santa Fe, NM in 2002. She has been a life long athlete, first as a competitive dancer and then primarily as an equestrian after moving out west. During her equestrian career she was encouraged to seek out a personal trainer and subsequently developed a love for fitness and cross training. Veronica began studying Exercise Science at Skidmore College and, although she decided to pursue a different degree path, she became a certified personal trainer. After moving back to Santa Fe in 2015, Veronica began her fitness career teaching barre and TRX and then shifted focus to personal training which she has done for over 5 years. Veronica also has experience teaching cardio boxing, Tabata, HIIT, TRX, barre, and strength training classes. Her private sessions focus primarily on strength training although can be customized to fit your needs. Veronica believes that all workouts should be as fun as they are challenging. She is a stickler on basic biomechanics and form which sets her clients up for their greatest success both in and out of the gym.

Veronica is a certified personal trainer through NASM and CFSC certified. She is a certified barre instructor and TRX levels I & II qualified. She is a FRC certified mobility specialist, a program which specializes in end range conditioning as well as post injury mobility. Veronica is also up to date on CPR and general first aid training. She is always working on new certifications and gaining knowledge of the most current exercise science philosophy.

Outside of the gym Veronica spends time riding and competing in hunter/jumpers, snuggling with her dog Indy, and adventuring with her partner Dylan and friends.


About the program:

  • Everyone is encourage to begin each workout with a quick foam roll and stretch. This will not only begin to warm up and loosen the muscles but also begin to fire neuromuscular connections.

  • Each session will begin with a series of mobilization stretches and drills focused on the hips, shoulders, and spine. We then compliment with activation drills to prime the muscle groups which will be working.

  • The last portion of the warm up focuses on plyometric drills and power production. Plyometrics help improve balance, coordination, an bone density. Studies have shown that adults loose 17% of their power output each decade after 40 without intervention. Our ability to produce power and absorb impact is imperative to longevity.

  • This is the meat and potatoes. Each session will work through 2-3 functional strength blocks. The focus will be on resistance training through movement patters we use in day-to-day life and/or tailored to your sports specific needs. I utilize free weights only to connect the entire muscle chains and make clients all around “bombproof.”

  • Time and goals permitting, the session will finish with 10-15 minutes of heart rate conditioning. Using intervals to spike and recover your heart rate a little will go a long way towards overall cardiovascular health and conditioning.
